Gwinnett Stripers Shut Out in Doubleheader Loss
On Wednesday, the Gwinnett Stripers faced a tough challenge as they were swept in a doubleheader by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, losing 8-0 and 1-0 at Coolray Field. In the first game, Gwinnett struggled against strong pitching from Eury Prez, who allowed only one hit over five innings while striking out four. Jacksonville took control in the third inning, scoring six runs, highlighted by a two-run homer from Jack Winkler. The Stripers' starter, Hurston Waldrep, had a difficult outing, allowing multiple errors that contributed to the team's downfall.
The second game saw Gwinnett's struggles continue, with Connor Gillispie pitching six scoreless innings and limiting the Stripers to just two hits. The lone run for Jacksonville came from an error in the fourth inning that allowed Troy Johnston to score. Gwinnett's offense failed to capitalize on its opportunities, leading to their disappointing doubleheader performance. The teams will face off again on Thursday evening.
